On a more serious note....

There has been a story in the news...TV and newspaper....that some of you may have read about. A woman from the thumb area in Michigan was in Florida last week. While she was sunbathing on a boat with her parents, a sting ray jumped out of the water and into the boat hitting her so fiercely that it killed her. It was a totally unexpected and freak accident. She was a young widow of 55 years and had two sons.

The stories say that she was from Pigeon, MI. However, she was actually from the Caseville area and lived on Sand Point, but Sand Point for some reason has a Pigeon mailing address so that's confusing. Anyway, she was very involved in Caseville. She was a Caseville Eagles member, as I also am. She owned the Beadle Bay Marina there. She and her husband were involved in the organization of the very first Cheeseburger in Caseville...which is the BESTEST event ever! Her husband died unexpectantly from complications from routine shoulder surgery a couple years ago. My husband just had 'routine' shoulder surgery last May. His passing devastated her. They had been basically high school sweethearts and had been married for like over 30 years. So she went on with her life and ran the Marina on her own. She was looking forward to getting some Florida sunshine and spending time with her parents. She was last seen in her neighborhood walking her dog last Tuesday just before she left for Florida. By Thursday she was dead.

She rode in the Cheeseburger in Caseville parade last August and I took a picture of her. This year's Cheeseburger event will be dedicated to Judy Kay Zagorski. I hope she and Steve are together again.

Wow. I had been following that story. That's really a sad twist to an already sad story.
