Just wanted to post a couple pics of Horseshoe Falls and the one where I captured the rainbow over it.....

I got back from Niagara Falls last Friday and I'm leaving again tomorrow for Caseville. I admit I am getting real tired of all this packing and unpacking crap. But I need to get to Caseville this weekend. It's the "Born to be Wild Days" in Elkton, or what I call the Harley Festival. There will be hundreds and hundreds of bikers there and the beer tent, etc. I am hoping for nice weather, but so far it doesn't look like it's going to be. It was very cool today. I actually wore jeans instead of shorts and SOCKS!

The trip to the Falls was nice. I went to the cemetery and put flowers on my friend's grave....two potted mums actually, one for him and one for his wife. And I checked out my ancestors graves and put a potted mum on little Mildred Isabella Lovell (dau of Fred & Hazel) who died when she was only about a year and 1/2 old in 1908. She would be my first cousin twice removed.

I visited one of Bill's friends who works down the street from where he lived. In that area you have to pay to park and he let her park her car in his driveway for the past 7 years and she would come have lunch with him every day....and I met her a couple times when I would be there visiting. So I remembered where she worked and went and talked with her. And I called his daughter and I met them at the house before I left. They had an estate sale and still had some things left, so I bought a few things. Mainly, a few of his old 33 1/3 albums. A few piano Honky Tonk and an Irish album. I wish I would have gotten more now.

I got a real deal on Ebay as far as a turntable goes to play the albums on. I have a stereo that has a radio/CD and turntable, but now the turntable won't work, so I went on Ebay and bought this combination radio/DVD/turntable....vintage style....brand new in the box for...................$9.99!!!, plus another $15 for shipping. A grand total of a whopping $25 bucks!! It came in the mail, I plugged it in, put on Bill's irish album and it plays great! I'm lovin it.

I had wanted to also go into New York to a cemetery there and maybe meet up with a cousin of mine, but I just didn't get there. I got there late Tuesday...spent Wednesday visiting the friend and walked the falls til I thought I was going to drop, and shopped, so by Thursday I was exhaused and basically layed in the room watching TV all day and snoozed. Then Friday met with his family at the house and drove home. This visit to the Falls I decided to do that "Journey Behind The Falls" and that was interesting, and very WET. I'm glad I did it. I thought about doing that Maid of the Mist boat ride to the Falls on Thursday, but didn't do it. I also was going to go to MarineLand which is very close by, but I decided it wouldn't be much fun going alone, so I didn't do that either.

So now I'm home and leaving again. My hubby will come up by the weekend for a while. Next Tuesday is our weddding anniversary so we'll do something to celebrate. Only problem is that Tuesday is the BIG BROTHER 8 FINALE!!...That happened a couple years ago when the finale was on a Sunday. I am really not liking that at all. I want to go out for my anniversary and now I guess we'll have to either go out the night before or the night after....cause Tuesday I'll be watching BIG BROTHER and rooting for either Dick or Dani...either one is good....they are father and daughter so they both win if one wins. Zack is a racist pervert and I'm hoping he ain't even one of the final two. I want Dick and Daniele to be Final Two and win ALLLLLLLLLLL the money!

Gotta get to bed.....nite

Happy Labor Day....

My youngest son came over and we grilled brats. His girlfriend had to work today....bummer! He just bought another car and wanted to show us. It's a 2006 Impala. Another deal. He will probably sell it, but he really likes this one and would like to keep it. It had some damage to the front end and he has already bought the parts, had them painted, and put them on so it looks like new again. That's what he did with the Chrysler 300 he just sold cause it had some front end damage too when he bought it. He made $1000 on that deal.

He said that he went in for his physical for work and found out that he has a hernia in his abdomen. He knew something was wrong cause it sticks out like a baseball. He may have to have it operated on and be off work for awhile. It's always something.

I decided to leave tomorrow for Niagara Falls and stay a few nights and probably be back home by Friday. So I was packing today and cleaned my car out. I want to go see another one of Bill's friends who works down the street from where he lived. And I'll give his daughter a call. I really should also drive to NF's, New York and go to the cemetery there cause I have descendents buried there and maybe give a cousin a call and get together. It's about a 5 hour drive, so I need to get my butt up fairly early and get to the bridge/border before the traffic gets backed up. Damn, I really hate crossing borders. I hate the stupid questions they ask. This will be the last year that a birth certificate and ID will do. I will have to have a passport soon. How stupid. It shouldn't be that big of a deal just to drive into Canada. Personally, I think that Ontario should have been part of the US....it connects to Michigan and New York....oh well, I guess that was another war we lost way back when.

So that's that....I hope to have a great trip. I wish my hubby could go, but with three dogs it's a bit impossible. I know that the Best Western allows pets, and I thought that maybe with two, but now that we have three forget it....

HELP JERRY'S KIDS....

Don't forget to donate lots of money to the MDA this weekend....or at least a few bucks. (and throw a few my way, too)

I started a good cleaning in my utility room today and cleaned out one of the cabinets. Here's what's going on in my utility room: Before the family room addition was added on way back before we bought it, the wall where my washer and dryer go would have been the outside wall where you would vent the dryer. But then they added the family room and there was no outside wall anymore. So what they did was run the dryer vent thingy up through the walls to the attic and out the roof. Which was fine until the damn thing got all clogged up with lint. So then my dryer wasn't drying very well and there is no way in freakin hell can we unclog that long dryer vent running up through the walls (2 storey house to boot). Hubby didn't want it vented through the floor under the house (no basement) so he just hooked up another dryer vent and has it connected to some screened thing that is the size of a mayonaise jar IN MY UTILITY ROOM. So basically my dryer is vented in my house, and everytime I use the dryer the humidity in the house is horrible, and there's lint all over everything in my utility room. That screened thing he has the vent tubing thing in doesn't do much to screen the lint....it flies everywhere. I put the damn thing inside a tupperware thing and hubby took it out. Apparently it needs to vent in order for my dryer to work right.....whatever! So every once in awhile I have to vacuum the walls.

No wonder my sinuses are bad.....this can't possibly be healthy.

And I don't know how I'll explain it to the inspectors if we ever sell the house.

I'm back to watching the MDA thing.....nite

Happy September....UGH

I can't believe it's Labor Day weekend already. Where did the summer go?? I'm usually in Caseville this weekend, but since I stayed so long the last time I got up and I am driving to Niagara Falls next week, I decided to enjoy the weekend here at home for a change. Usually this weekend, Pigeon has their festival and my friends and I would be at the beer tent. Well, they will have to party without me this year. Instead I decided to enjoy Pontiac's "Art, Beats and Eats" festival. It's a huge festival with lots of bands, food and artsy stuff. Downtown Pontiac is a pretty cool place....kinda like a Royal Oak. Asked hubby if he wanted to go, but he declined. I think he's still recuperating from the day-out we had Thursday. Guess it's too much to expect him to do something with me TWICE IN THE SAME WEEK!

So I went by myself....

I walked and walked and shopped. I bought a pink hat and some T-shirts. I ate fried mushrooms, a hot dog and a brownie ice cream yummy thing. I checked out the new bar that had a write-up in the paper about. I wish Pontiac were closer. They are having their grand opening next weekend and this place is going to really rock when it does. It's HUGE with 7 bars, a ballroom, outdoor patio, an upstairs lounge. But there's no way I will get hubby to go.

Then I got totally lost coming home.....damn one-way streets! I couldn't go the way I KNEW how to get on the right road to get home. So I had to drive in the opposite direction and got all turned around. I was looking for Telegraph Rd, and ended up way out on Orchard Lake Rd which is about 5 miles or so past Telegraph. I had to turn around and drive back and eventually found it.

So I rented another movie....The Number 23 with Jim Carrey....a thriller type.....pretty good....eerie....I made popcorn and pizza rolls.

So last night when I was on the computer I went to my little refrigerator to see if there was anything to drink in there and there was about 6 bottles of ice tea, but all the flavoring was gone....only a hint of lemon. I figured that they've probably been in there so long that all the tea evaporated inside. So this morning I told hubby about it. I told him how all the tea was gone and how it tasted like plain water with a hint of lemon. So he just kinda looks at me strange and I asked him how the tea could just disappear like that and leave nothing but water. So he says "yeah I know....I put water in some of your empty bottles and put them in there". Damn....no wonder....I thought it was kinda weird that the tea would just disappear....haha

Forget the water....tonight I put beer in the fridge!

Nite.....

I'd give it a 10 (rounds)

I finally rented the movie "Rocky Balboa" and I personally thought it was GREAT!! It showed Rocky's heart and it brought closure to the Rocky saga and I understand that. The best line in the movie for me was when Maria said to him something about the last thing that ages is your heart.....meaning, not the physical heart but the emotional heart. The movie wasn't just about Rocky and boxing. It was about aging and the parallel between Rocky Balboa and Sylvester Stallone, and the rest of us baby boomers. We still have "something left in the basement"....

After Rocky V, I am so glad that Stallone decided to give Rocky the closure he needed and do it right. I loved the movie.
