Great News! I finally was able to upgrade my computer to Windows XP!! I don't know what I was doing wrong before, but I decided to try it one more time before tossing it out the window and this time it worked. So now I can get online with SBC Global. They need to send me some device to connect to my phone line and computer first. Then I can use my computer and phone at the same time. Can't wait!!

I have an address for my son so I want to type and print out a letter for him, so I'll make this short.

Wednesday I went to see my daughter-in-law and the kids. We got pizza, pop and beer and just chilled out. She started a blog and I added her to my list....so check it out.

Last night I met with my girlfriend and we got something to eat and then to the bar for a few brewski's. Her mother isn't doing very well. She got an emergency phone call from her brother just as I was dropping her off that their mom is back in the hospital. I'll give her a call later and see how things are going.

Even though we got a late start on winter, I'm already sick to death of it! Maybe my husband and I should think about moving to Vegas.....that's where most of my relatives live anyway.

I should be starting work by next week. I'm trying to diet so I can get into some of my clothes. I got to the gym on Thursday and did the treadmill and the bike. Haven't done much walking now that there's snow everywhere.

That's it for now....gonna get that letter typed.

I drove back from Caseville yesterday. I have jury duty tomorrow which sucks. I did a test drive today to make sure I know where the hell I'm going. I have to be there at 7:45 in the morning.

We got a letter from my son. It's hard getting use to things, I guess....like we didn't warn him! I guess when he first arrived there, they were up til 3:40 in the morning getting processed, 20 mins left to sleep and then up at 4:00 a.m. Everybody was so dog tired from lack of sleep and the food is terrible. My son was sick on Thursday and had to be put on a fruit-only diet. He will regret his decision to do this....I think he thinks this is going to be like going to fucking boyscout camp!!

While I was in Caseville I went and talked to this cop in Bad Axe I met. His son is part of the Michigan Band of Brothers in Iraq...marines. I know that there were articles on them back in December and right after the articles a couple of them were killed. His son was there when the snipers struck but he was okay. He gave me a couple of websites I can go into to get information. His wife is a moderator for a website that answers questions for people. His son's name is Shane Peltier....same last name as my neice's husband which is kinda weird. Anyway, he was telling me how the Marines boot camp is even worse than the army's. He said that if someone sends a man candy, they will force him to eat every piece.....so it's a good idea NOT to send food to them, I guess.

I start work in a couple weeks which is good. Hell, I just sent almost $2000 for 3 lousy months of health insurance premiums!!!! This retirement crap sucks. I'm going to have to find something cheaper, but it's all so damn confusing.

I know I need to try working on my home computer again....and get it up and running....soon, I hope.

He's in the Army now.....

My son thought he was going to be taking the oath around noon so we planned on being there by 11:30. So I got up just before 8:30 and he calls and tells me that they are doing the swearing in at 10:00 and leaving at noon. So I run and wake up hubby and we rush, rush, rush to get out of there by 9:10. We got there shortly before 10:00 and they were a late anyway....good thing, cause his wife didn't get there til a few minutes after 10:00. They ushered everyone into the ceremony room. There were 11 inductees....8 guys, 3 gals....some army, some marines and I think one for the air force. I took pics during the swearing in and afterwards. Of course, I can't post any here until I get my comp working.

Then they went into the dining room to get something to eat before they departed and we visited for awhile. They have a game room there so we sat in there with the kids. He had been issued an Army backpack to pack his things in and an officer came in and gave Michelle and I one too! It's pretty neat and had some booklets, a CD, and an Army T-shirt in it.

Just before noon the bus came and we took a couple more pics of him getting onboard and then off he went to the airport.

So that's THAT!

We drove back and I got my walking in.....I walked a little over 3 miles in 50 minutes. Tomorrow or Friday I am going back to Caseville for a week or so. My hus says he's staying home. We need our time-away-from-each-other-before-one-of-us-kills-the-other time off. I'll probably take my furry kids with me. Then I have to be back by the 23rd cause I have frickin jury duty again. This time it's a sure thing. I don't call the night before. I just show up.

Anyway, I just figure the army is just my son's new job. Hopefully, it'll be okay.

Ciao....

So Saturday night they got home around 4:00 and I got home around 5:00 in the morning, so I basically slept alot on Sunday.....but it was fun and they have alot of DVDs so I watched "The BreakUp" which was good but I hated the way it ended. Jennifer Aniston was such a bitch telling him to basically "f'off" after he realized and admitted that he was wrong and was trying to be so nice......Something tells me that she's like that in real time....probably why she lost Brad.

Yesterday I drove out to my cousin's house and visited. She lives about an hour away and I haven't been out to her house in probably 10 years!!....although we have seen each other at funerals...haha....so I guess it was about time that we got together and visited. It was great....and we will definitely do it again soon. I'm hoping she can get up to Caseville this summer and see my place.

So tomorrow is the big day. My son is being picked up by the army tonight and he will spend the night in a hotel room.....they will probably have an armed guard at his door to make sure he doesn't change his mind!....Then tomorrow my husband and I will drive there, somewhere in Troy, and watch him take his final oath and then he'll be departing for South Carolina for basic training.

Like I said.....Don't ask me how I feel about all this!!!!

Hello New Year!

I'm babysitting at my son's house tonight. Jayden is sleeping and Hunter is watching Jurassic Park III....so I'm on the computer.

I survived the holidays....good lord, I didn't think it would ever end! The Friday before Xmas my middle son and his girlfriend came over and we exchanged gifts.

Then Saturday night we had our oldest son and his wife (yes, they are married now!) and the two kids over. We all got a lot of great gifts. Sunday night my youngest son came over and he gave me the red toaster that I wanted for the cottage...so I was really happy.

Christmas we went to my in-laws and got home late.

So it was party, party, party for four days in a row. By Tuesday I was so exhausted and hungover from all the drinking that I stayed in bed all day...I didn't even bother to get dress at all. I was totally whipped!

We left for Caseville by Thursday for New Years. I really didn't even want to go out cause I was still too partied out from Xmas....but I called my g'friend and we made arrangements to meet at Hersel's Lounge at 10:00. So my husband and I got there and waited and waited and they never showed up! I was royally pissed off!! I mean, I didn't even want to go out in the first damn place. So we left at 11:45, drove home, turned on Rockin Eve with Dick Clark and enjoyed the New Year with our doggies.

Apparently they were fighting as usual and decided not to go out, but didn't bother to call us to let us know.....go figure! They just got married the Friday before Xmas.

We drove back home this past Thursday cause my son and his girlfriend were getting married yesterday. We stood up for them at the courthouse. Then we took them and the kids out for lunch. My son is leaving this Wednesday for the army and they needed to be married before he leaves. We are going to be there when he takes his last oath just before he ships out. Don't ask me how I feel about all this!!!

We had a good time in Caseville regardless. Our neighbors got a new little puppy! He's a Schnauser and his name is Trooper. They lost a dog almost 2 years ago and really debated about getting another one, but they really miss not having a dog so they caved. So now Mini and Lucky will have a friend they can bark at....haha

I started walking!! I walked nearly everyday while I was in Caseville. I missed Thursday cause that's when we drove home, and I missed yesterday cause of the wedding, but I got out there today. I've been walking 40-50 minutes...I'm figuring about 3 miles....15 mins per mile. My husband bought me a Sony walkman, so it's easier and more enjoyable with the music blaring in my ears. He also got me Chris Daughtry's CD, so I've been listening to that. It's a great CD...although I was hoping he would do more "in your face....jump up and dance.....rock n roll" type of music. But it's more American Idol/Kelly Clarkstonish type....

That's about it for now......later, gator
