RIP tax season....(I'll be back)
Well...It's been awhile since I last posted anything, but there just hasn't been a damn exciting thing going on in my life.
I've been working a couple/few times a week since it's still tax season. Monday is my last day. For those of you who may not know, but apparently Friday, Apr. 15, is some kind of government holiday (even though everybody else in the country has to work), so they extended the tax season to April 18. And we've been busy, busy, busy this year. And it's just me and my boss doing all the work.
I can't believe I've been working for the same CPA for well over 20 years now. I think I started working for him back in '87....hmmmmmm, I'll have to ask him Monday....my memory doesn't go back that far anymore. But he works for himself and does accounting the rest of the year for companies....but come tax season, he needs my help. It's a great job, to say the least! I work a 2/3 times a week for 2 months and then I'm off for 10 months to do as I please. Back when I was more ambitious, I use to work other part-time jobs and temporary jobs for a temporary agency. One good set-up I had was when I worked for the American Lung Association. I worked their busy season from end of April (after tax season) to end of June (school out, summer Caseville time), and September to December...then I was off for my tax seasonal job. Did that for a couple years. One tax season, I worked for my CPA, AND I worked a part-time job for Equifax at the same time. WOW....that is when I was really ambitious and could actually get up and function well before noon. I remember working jobs where I had to be at work at 8:30 in the freakin' morning!! I have no clue how in the hell I ever did that. I must have had a clone.
When I first started working for my CPA, I use to go in at 10:00 which wasn't too bad.....but at some point, when my body started to do morning melt-downs, I finally had to ask him if I could PLEASE start at noon, and I was willing to work til whatever time....6:00-7:00....didn't matter, but I could no longer do mornings.
I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON!! But that is another subject...
So anyway, Monday is my last day and it's always a little sad when I work my last day. Damn....I like my office, and I love the kitchen/break room and really love the coffee! This is a new office for us and it's the first time I've ever had an office where the coffee is FREE.....well, at least for me....I guess my boss has to pay for it, but he told me to drink all the coffee I want and I do. And it's really great coffee....and there's even a TV in there. I'm going to miss it.
Through the years, we've been in several different locations and offices, and one year he had two offices and I worked both of them. But this place tops all of them so I hope he doesn't move again.
But I'll be back in 10 months!...and when I come back to work, it's like I never left. It's really funny how in all this time, my boss and I have never aged....weird....
